Ever wondered what your Parish Council is here to do? The Parish Council is made up of 7 members who all live in Thurton and represent the village on various matters. We are effectively the third tier of local government, the other two being Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk Council.
Parish Council Meetings are held in Ashby & Thurton Village Hall normally at 7.30 pm.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will take place on Thursday 28 November 2019 at 7:30pm in Ashby and Thurton Village Hall
You may not have heard of YANA, which stands for” You Are Not Alone”. It has the same ethos and objectives as the Samaritans, which is to help people who are feeling desperate and alone with their problems
It is specifically aimed at people who work and live within the farming community as many experience huge pressure and sadly, the levels of suicide are high.
It is not perceived macho to admit that you are struggling and access to the means of ending your life are readily available to the farming fraternity. With this in mind, spreading the word about support through a simple phone call to YANA can be life saving
